Services

I specialize in the treatment of adults. I offer individual therapy and couples therapy.

A therapy session for individuals is generally 50 minutes. During the initial intake session, we will meet for a longer session, generally 90 minutes. Couples sessions can last for either 50 minutes or 90 minutes, depending upon your needs.

The first step in the therapeutic process is to gather information about what brought you to therapy, and then to develop a treatment plan to address these issues. Generally, it is most effective to meet once per week. However, sometimes people may benefit from meeting less often, or on occasion, more frequently. Treatment is tailored to your individual needs.

Therapy is a commitment to your health and well-being. My focus is on wellness and maximizing health. Rather than emphasizing pathology, or illness, my focus is on health and improving current conditions. My doctoral dissertation examined the role of resilience in functioning. Research has demonstrated that it is possible to thrive despite adversity, and one of my main goals in treatment is to help cultivate this quality in my clients. By offering compassionate support and helping to increase self-understanding, I am able to help my clients move forward in a more positive and effective manner. My clients are introduced to tools and concepts that help them cope more effectively and lead more satisfying and productive lives.
